Happy New Year

We are into January and the weather continues to be typical of Missouri - if you don't like it, wait a few minutes. We've said goodbye to our Christmas decorations for another year and started working on the next holiday (Valentine's - see our "special"). I will be busy cutting firewood whenever the ground is dry enough to drive to the woodlot, and Sandra is getting caught up on her mailing lists, etc. We're planning a trip to the Kansas City Sports Show sometime next week - it runs Jan 7-11 - to pick up more tourism info and ideas for us and for our guests.

We continue to be active in local affairs, with Sandra working with the Arts Council and Bill on the Temporary County Zoning Commission (see for the activities there. Bill is also working on getting ready for skeet season, which starts the 10th (weather permitting).

Whatever the weather, the Cottage on the Knoll provides a snug hideaway; if the ground is dry (or frozen) there are lots of open trails. We still have the wild turkeys around and we'll be putting out a deer feeder below the Cottage. Winter is good for seeing wildlife - we very occasionally see a bald eagle flying around, and breeding season for bobcats will be soon.
